Edit a Record in Lightning

Version 2.4 of HomeKeeper makes all aspects of the HomeKeeper app compatible with the Salesforce Lightning user interface. Most of HomeKeeper works the same in either the Classic or Lightning user interface, but some functionality in Lightning differs slightly. This article explains how editing/updating works in the Lightning user interface.

1. Option - Use the "Edit" Button

In Salesforce Lightning, when you view a record, "Edit" will typically be the first button to appear.

Your user organization may have added custom buttons, or changed the order of buttons. If you can't find the "Edit" button, try editing the page layout for the Object.

Click "Edit" to view the edit screen for that record. Scroll and edit information as needed. Click "Save" when done.

Your edits will be reflected after you click "Save".

2. Option - Edit "in-line" for specific field(s)

In Salesforce Lightning, when you view a record, editable fields will display a pencil (indicating they can be edited). Note: Formula fields cannot be edited by design.

Click the pencil to edit that field, and other editable fields.

Scroll down to edit additional fields. The "Save" button will remain on your screen as you scroll down.

Your edits will be reflected after you click "Save".
